• Question: 3. Do you ever feel an emotional connection for a patient? Not so much friendship or romance but in which they were struggling so bad you didn't know how to help?

      i am a forensic psychologist. I usually feel empathy with prisoners as they have often had very traumatic lives that contributed their violence etc…. it can explain, but never excuse their behaviour though, so my parameters are clear

      Yes, I worked in the sexual violence field for a while and I supported families who had experienced child abuse, it was very hard to feel you were making a difference to them in sessions, but it was important to be consistent and present and listen.

      I think you often feel empathy, and that is very important.
