Hi- my understanding is that this is something to work on longer term to come up with manageable strategies. The old school thought around this was to set limits and times and change to a different activity, but that doesn’t work so well. I am not specialised in these kind of treatments, but it is important to remember this isn’t a negative thing and can be used positively, and it isn’t something to fix. It is just something that over time an autistic individual can learn to manage so they feel better in themselves.
