Good question, if you experience social anxiety you can contact a charitable organisation in the UK called MIND, and also speak to your GP. Generally, cognitive behavioural techniques work well in reducing social anxiety, but it is important to talk through with a healthcare professional.
The following tips may help:
try to understand more about your anxiety – by thinking about or writing down what goes through your mind and how you behave in certain social situations, it can help to keep a diary
try some relaxation techniques, such as breathing exercises for stress
break down challenging situations into smaller parts and work on feeling more relaxed with each part
try to focus on what people are saying rather than just assuming the worst
use self to talk to ask yourself things like:
what is the worst that can happen?
what evidence do I have for this belief?
what would [my best friend/someone who cares about me] say if they could hear my thought?
